The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Residency takes place on the artist's former compound on Captiva Island, a barrier island off the Gulf Coast of Florida. Residents work in Rauschenberg's actual studios — the spaces where he created his legendary Combines, silkscreens, and transfer drawings. Housing, studio, meals, and a $3,000 stipend provided. The subtropical island setting (mangroves, pelicans, Gulf sunsets) is both isolating and expansive.
