The Tyrone Guthrie Centre is Ireland's premier residential retreat for artists, set in a Georgian house on a wooded estate with its own lake in County Monaghan. Founded in 1981 in the former home of theatre director Tyrone Guthrie. Residents receive a private bedroom, studio, and meals. The Centre is a hub for Irish writers and artists — Seamus Heaney, Anne Enright, and Colm Tóibín all worked here. Subsidized by the Arts Council of Ireland.
